Hi I’m Lidia, a writer, psychologist, and speaker. Born in East Timor and now based in Melbourne, I celebrate the diversity of cultures which shape who we are and foster the dreams we have in life.

My PhD research focused on self-narratives, culture, autobiographical memory, and semiotics. The stories we tell ourselves, the way we interpret our memories, affect how we understand our identity, make meaning of our experiences and, influence the culture around us. These cultures also impact who we become.

I explore these themes in my writing, both in fictional stories and non-fiction.

I also speak about these topics to a variety of audiences. It has been a privilege to share my research at international conferences and with organisations I have worked with.

In my blog, I share stories and strategies based on my research and practice as a psychologist who has helped many individuals transform their lives.

As the Director of To Learn Consulting, I provide a range of psychological services. I am passionate about empowering individuals and organisations to achieve their full potential.

Each person lives a story that they can change if they have the desire, guidance and support.

When not immersed in writing stories or reading books, I juggle work with other roles as daughter, wife and mother of two children. I enjoy running, swimming, travelling, and catching up with friends to keep everything in balance.

“ I believe any time we work on ourselves—when we have healthier understanding of our identity, belonging, purpose and the agency each of us have—we impact the culture around us.”
